Benny
heads to the Castrol EDGE Tin Tops
Team
Bray is heading to the 2009 Castrol EDGE Tin Top Titles that are
being held at Willowbank Raceway this weekend the18th and 19th April.
15 Top Doorslammers will be hitting the track on Saturday attempting
to make the 8 car eliminations on Sunday.
Once again Team Bray has 3 entries in the ultra completive Top Doorslammer
bracket. 2 x 1957 Chevies and a Monaro CV8Z.
Six Times national champion Victor Bray will be behind the wheel
of his trade mark 1957 Castrol EDGE Chevy Top Doorslammer and gets
more enthusiastic about his bracket with each meeting.
Ben
Bray Monaro CV8Z "The entire Willowbank-Raceway staff works
very hard to get everything prepared. Our Teams' major sponsor Castrol
EDGE has again come on as the events naming right's sponsor. My
car has got some good passes under its belt now. We have been able
to run a couple of 5sec passes at all 3 of the ANDRA group 1 championship
tracks but we are lacking a bit in the consistence department so
I guess we can just take a deep breath and get out there and do
our jobs in the best way possible,".
Victor Bray 1957 Chevy "As a driver and a team owner,
it gives me great pleasure to see the Top Doorslammer bracket getting
better and better with every event. John Zappia has been the bench
mark for the last 2 years. Before John, Benny had 2 years when he
was unbeatable and before that I had 6 years. Over the past few
events Robin Judd has been taking it up to Zapp. It was starting
to look like another changing of the guard was about to take place,
but at the last event for the season over in Perth last weekend,
Zap pushed the bar higher when he ran a couple of 5.8 sec passes.
So it looks like he is going to be the man to beat this weekend.
The Castrol EDGE Winternationals is my favourite event but the Tin
Tops runs a very close 2nd because it is happens at my home track
and also it was the Tin Top Titles in 1983, held at Surfers Paradise
raceway, that I got my first taste of success."
Mat
Abel 1957 Chevy "We just got out run over in Perth. We
were good in qualifying and we ran a good first round, but Zap (point's
leader John Zappia) just ran better. I'm still on a learning curve
with Top doorslammer racing, but if I can improve on my personal
best time, that would be great. If I can get into the field again
for Sunday's elimination would be fantastic."
Three Qualifying sessions are scheduled to start at 4 p.m. Saturday,
April 18th and Final eliminations begin at 12.30p.m. Sunday, April.
19th.
