Benny
Bray is looking forward to 3 days of action
There's
a genuine expectation of records being achieved during this week-end's
Australian Nationals at Western Sydney International Dragway (WSID),
an event that has now become the big-time book-end to the season-ending
Castrol Edge Winternationals.
One of the most familiar names of Australian drag racing, Team Bray
Racing (TBR) will again be giving it their all during the action
packed three day program.
The TBR pit area has expanded for the Nationals to include 3 entries
in Top Doorslammer, 1 in Top Alcohol and New Zealand's Mrs Top Doorslammer
Chris Tynne.
Ben
Bray Monaro CV8Z "The thing is, to win a race these days
you have to run a 5.90 or better. There was a time when you would
have needed a radical tune-up to run so fast but that's the norm
now."
"We want to do well at this event. We've found a couple of
issues with my car we think may have been hurting us, so we're keen
to move ahead in those areas. I am still deciding what to run in
my car, whether to go with the tune-up that I ran 5.86 on the test
day before round one or go in another direction."
Victor
Bray 1957 Chevy "Last season we had a few data logger problems
with my car so we have completely rewired my car. These days you
need as much information about your car as possible. So fingers
crossed I can get a clean pass in on Friday night, collect all the
data and get better as the week-end goes on."
"I must admit I have missed not having an entry in Top Alcohol,
so it is great to have Paul Madill in the bracket, flying the flag
for Team Bray. Paul's car is a real show stopper and when it rolls
out on to the start line for the 1st qualifying session on Friday,
I will bet it will be the most photographed car out there. It is
a credit to Paul and his long time sponsor Prime Quality Meats."
Mat Abel 1957 Chevy "In Top Doorslammer I have not managed
to get past the 1st round yet. Not to mention the fact that I have
always had to line up against blokes like Robin Judd and my team
mate Ben, there have been a couple of little things that have let
me down."
"I really hope we can put it all together this week-end and
give the bracket a real good shake up."
"Testing in the Karcher Top Doorslammer was positive after
the first round Willowbank, so I think we'll stick with the proven
formula that has worked for us over the last few race meetings".
Paul Madill Dodge Funny Car "Well I have been waiting
for this moment for 18mths and now it is here. I had a good couple
of days testing and completing my licence with Victor and Ben at
Willowbank after the ANDRA Pro series round 1."
"I have had a lot of experience with big horse-powered engines
from my power boat drag racing, but in a boat the engine is behind
you. This having to look over the top of the blower hat will take
some getting used to. That said I can not wait until 6pm Friday
night."
Four
Qualifying sessions are scheduled.
1st on Friday night at 6.30pm, followed
3 more on
at 2pm, 5pm and
7pm on Saturday.
Final
eliminations begin at 12.00p.m. Sunday
